Mt. Tam glimpsed from Indian Fire Road by a water tower along the way

A midday hike took us and the dog along Indian Road starting from the end of Evergreen Drive in Kent/Woodlands. Had less than one hour to spare, but it was plenty to feel like we’ve left the world behind as on the initial ascent at first the bay and the San Francisco skyline fell away in the brilliant light, and then after a turn, there it was, looming, the peaks of Mt. Tam across the valley of forest.

An hour later, I was at a shopping mall again, sipping a cappuccino, the mountain out of view, but not far from my mind.

By the way, if you would like to hike with your canine companion in the San Francisco Bay Area, this page lists a number of parks, open paces, and trails where dogs are allowed.
