Mt. Tam glimpsed through dissipating fog

This morning I thought we skipped right ahead into summer with its patterns of fog at daybreak that burns off in a matter of seconds when the sun hits at just the right angles of the slopes of the mountain. Sure enough, by afternoon the temperatures climbed into the positively warm range, which meant that the people walking and biking along the Corte Madera Creek were doing so in various stages of undress, from lightly quilted jackets all the way dressed down in tube tops and shorts.

There were plenty of pets taking in this delicious first warm afternoon of the season as well, and not all of them were the canine sort, by the way. We encountered a pet bird in a nylon backpack cage & a Nile monitor lizard in a mesh bag, the kind into which you are supposed to stuff your fragile clothing before tossing it into the washing machine.
