dreaming in the shadows of the Sleeping Maiden

Mt. Tam glimpsed from the Lake Lagunitas dam

I took a mini mid-day hike from Phoenix Lake to Lake Lagunitas, via Fish Grade Road, a nearly 1-mile hike upwards. It’s been a good number of years since I took Fish Grade Road, and all I can say that the grade seemed so much easier to me than what I remember it from those many years back.

There was plenty of water gurgling along the way, fresh leaves rustling in the breeze, wild flowers, included patches of wild iris, sprouting up all over the place. It was a lovely meander, and as chance had it, I spent most of the 4-mile hike as if I had been the only human in the woods, with only the odd mountain bike swooshing by.
